Give your idea/opini for the following point :

1.        What is media in teaching? How many teaching media types do you know. Explain

Answer :

I think Teaching media can be said to be a teaching aid which is a place to inform the material presented. Teaching media are anything that can be used to stimulate students' thoughts, feelings, attention and abilities or skills so that they can encourage the learning process. There are 4 learning media that I know, namely :

·           Video :

Video is a media that displays images and audio at the same time. This media is a media that can be heard as well as seen. For example animated videos and educational videos.

·           Audio :

Audio media is sound-based media. For example radio and voice recordings.

·           Multimedia

Multimedia is a learning media equipped with a controller that can be operated by the user so that the tool can respond and there is a reciprocal relationship between the tool and the user. For example quiz applications and games based on education.

·           Visual

Visual Media is a teaching media that only uses students' visual senses to convey learning messages. For example books, newspapers, magazines, and so on.

2.        Why teacher needs media in teaching?

Answer : In my opinion, teachers needs media in teaching because based on the development of educational technology they are also required to take advantage of these technological advances. In addition, teaching media also play an active role in increasing student interest in learning, teachers have many ways and ideas to convey learning material, and learning materials are more easily accepted by students because of teaching media. Based on my experience a student also needs teaching media when the material being taught I cannot understand it.

3.        What are the criteria of good teaching media

Answer : in my point of view, good teaching media must have several things, including:

·           Teaching media must improve student learning outcomes. not only as a means of delivering material, but good teaching media must also be able to improve student learning outcomes.

·           Teaching media must be easy to use and have a short but easy to understand explanation of the material.

·           Teaching media must be interesting and unique that can make students interested in using and studying the material presented and providing learning experiences that can be used as examples in everyday life.

4.        Do you think that the teaching media needs to be developed? Why?

Answer : of course. Teaching media must be developed. Because if not, students' abilities and knowledge will also not develop. With the development of teaching media, this can trigger students to develop too. However, when the teaching media does not develop and students follow technological advances outside of school, students will feel smarter than the teacher. In fact, it can be a reason for students not to be interested in education.

1.        In understanding foreign cultures, someone needs to understand well the cultures to avoid cultural conflicts. But, many people are failed to understand the values and customs of foreign cultures. According to your own idea, please explain what do you need to have to understand foreign cultures in order to avoid cultural conflicts.

Answer     : In my point of view, from my experiences and my environment, in order to avoid misunderstanding between cultures we need to instill several principles in our lives: first and foremost is to cultivate a mutual respect for foreign cultures, secondly we have to get rid of the thought that our culture is the most correct culture, in another sense regardless foreign culture as something bad, and finally after we can respect and not look down on foreign culture, start learning to understand foreign culture. not only as a form of our tolerance for foreign cultures, understanding foreign cultures will also add to our knowledge and experience in socializing.

2.        How do you define your local cultural is different from foreign culture? Do you think local and foreign cultures need to be integrated? Please provide your reasons

Answer     : Culture is a way of life that is developed and owned by a group of people and is passed down from generation to generation. Culture is made up of many complex elements, including religious and political systems, customs, language, tools, clothing, buildings and works of art. From this understanding, of course my culture is different from the culture of other people who do not have in common the elements that make up the culture that I mentioned earlier. especially with foreign cultures. the culture where I live is still closely related to high moral values. for example, in my culture, it is not justified to appear immodest and engage in promiscuity. Those two things are something that is still held high in my culture.

Do I think local and foreign cultures need to be integrated?

Of course. Because there is no bad culture, it all depends on how we place it and choose what we think is good to imitate and which we think is not good to imitate. Therefore, local culture and foreign culture need to be integrated. when we find a foreign culture that is good to emulate and do so without losing our original culture, that is the importance of integrating the culture. Because culture will continue to develop in accordance with the times. All of that depends on how our policy chooses what suits our views and what is not. For example, when we can see positive sites from foreign cultures like other languages, we can try to learn another language, right? But if we want to learn their language, for example English, don't forget your initial language.

3.        What is stereotype and prejudice? Does it exist in your local culture? Give example?

Answer : Prejudice is most commonly used to refer to a preconceived judgment toward a people or a person because of race, social class, gender, age, disability, political beliefs, and sexual orientation. While stereotype is commonly held popular belief about specific social groups or types of individuals. Stereotypes are standardized and simplified conceptions of groups based on some prior assumptions. From this understanding, we know that the stereotype is more positive than prejudice. Media, religion, environment, customs and culture influence our perceptions of how we see other people. And often "prejudice" becomes a trap so that we don't give ourselves the opportunity to get to know other people. In fact, prejudice often becomes the beginning of hostility and conflict. Cannot be denied, both of those things are in my culture. For stereotype  example, some people in my environment think that life should have principles like Chinese people, namely hard workers. another example is the view that "the key to working with a Chinese people is honest". Whereas for prejudice example, some people in my neighborhood think that a person who covers his entire body is called a terrorist. however, several others have been able to change that view.

Name         : Pebri Yuni Br Hutabarat (1888203024)
Class          : 4.1 English Department
Subject       : Argumentative Writing
Topic          : COVID-19
TS      : The government and the community must work together to break the spread of the corona virus.
Title     : We are united, we are safe.
Body 1    : The government should provide information and understanding as well as the right regulations to be understood and obeyed by the public.
Body 2        : The public must not be ignorant of the corona virus and government regulations.
Body 3        : The public and the government must implement health protocols.
Body 4    : The government should give stricter sanctions to people who do not care about government regulations and policies.
Conclusion      : Unity is the key to surviving the corona virus.

We are united, we are safe.!!!

Corona virus is a plague that currently makes the world panic. From https://stoppneumonia.id/informasi-tentang-virus-corona-novel-coronavirus/ we can know that Coronavirus is a type of virus that is contagious and causes disease in humans and animals. this virus attacks the respiratory tract. A new type of coronavirus found in humans since an extraordinary event appeared in Wuhan China, in December 2019, was later given the name Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-COV2), and caused Coronavirus Disease-2019 (COVID-19). According to data from merdeka.com, the spread of the corona virus continues to increase, especially in Indonesia. Then how can we overcome it?
First, the government should provide information and understanding as well as the right regulations to be understood and obeyed by the public. Such as forming counseling groups about the corona virus in communities that are far from information and communication sources, creating a reliable source of information, apply large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) in all areas both areas that are in the zone of red, yellow and green, etc.. In kompas.com, the government was asked to improve the way information was delivered by the corona virus by Eko in a discussion on 'Anticipatory Pandemic Corona Steps' at Smaft FM, Saturday (3/14/2020). The government was also asked to provide facts related to the development of the corona virus so that people do not consider that the corona virus is a mild case. Based on https://kemlu.go.id/brussels/id/news/6349/kebintah-pemerintah-republik-indonesia-ter-relabah-wabah-covid-19 we also know that the government has provided a very appropriate policy, but how is the implementation?
Second, the public must not be ignorant of the corona virus and government regulations. Various policies made by the government certainly are not easy policies. These policies are made with due regard for many considerations. However, based on data from the survey at https://www.kompas.com/sains/read/2020/04/02/100200323/various-responses-rakyat-for-government-related-handling-covid-19?page= all only 5.6 percent of the public is proud of the policies in handling this case. From this we know that there are still many people who do not support the policies made by the government so that the implementation of policies made by the government is not optimal. This is one of the causes of the difficulty of preventing the spread of the corona virus.
Third, the public and the government must implement health protocols. The government has issued a policy that allows people under the age of 45 to return to their activities. That was one of them to maintain the economic stability of the community. Previously, everyone, regardless of age class, was asked to remain at home in order to cut the distribution of the corona virus that caused Covid-19. The application of this health protocol is also related to the term "new normal" which we currently understand as freedom. However, the term "new normal" does not mean freedom. In kompas.com, according to the Team Leader of the Task Force for the Acceleration of Covid-19 Handling Wiku Adisasmita, new normal is a change in behavior to continue to carry out normal activities but added health protocols to prevent Covid-19 transmission. some health protocols that must be applied by the public are keep hand hygiene, do not touch the face, apply a good and correct cough and sneeze ethics, wear masks, keep a distance, independent isolation and maintain health. Then what should the government do to make public want to follow the government policies?
The last, the government should give stricter sanctions to people who do not care about government regulations and policies. In https://nasional.kompas.com/read/2020/04/06/10272001/langkah-hukum-di-tengah-penangan-wabah-covid-19-ini-pangg Violation- which?page=all has been very clearly notified various sanctions that have been set by the government to control the community in responding to policies made by the government. But we hope that without these sanctions we must understand that the policies made by the government must be obeyed.
In conclusion, Unity is the key to surviving the corona virus. The government and the community are the two parties who will determine whether the spread of the corona virus will end or not. The government must have strict policies and the public must trust and implement these government policies as a form of support and unity in breaking the chain of the spread of the corona virus.

Argumentative Writing

Thesis Statement         : Misuse of fake news/hoax on social media
Summary and paraphrase of each paragraph  :
1.        Discussion :
Hoaxes are fake news that is intentionally made by people who also know that the news is fakes.

2.        How hoaxes work :
There are two factors a person easily believes in hoax news from a psychological perspective, namely when the information obtained is in accordance with what he thinks and when someone gets positive information that is not necessarily true.
The spread of hoax is also influenced by people's experience in using search engine and experience in making hoax news that is more neatly structured and systematic according to Lazonder, Biemans, & Wopereis, 2000.
Although many sites have been blocked, hoax news has not yet disappeared from human life. There have even been casualties resulting from hoax news received such as hoax news about missing children which makes people more aware of others.

3.        The role of government in hoax news :
In dealing with hoax news, the government has established several regulations that will make the perpetrators and disseminators of hoax news bound by sanctions based on the Criminal Code, Law No.11 of 2008 concerning Information and Electronic Transactions (ITE), Law No.40 of 2008 concerning the Elimination of Racial and Ethnic Discrimination.
In addition, the government has also blocked hoax sites, although this has not succeeded in making the perpetrators stop making and spreading hoaxes.
Several other ways the government does in fighting and preventing the spread of hoax are laws regarding the spread of hoax such as Article 28 paragraph 1 and 2 of Law No. 11 of 2008 concerning ITE, Articles 14 and 15 of Law No. 1 of 1946, Articles 311 and 378 of the Criminal Code, as well as Law No. 40 of 2008 concerning the Elimination of Racial and Ethnic Discrimination are a number of legal products that can be used to combat the spread of hoaxes. In addition to legal channels, the government has also created a national cyber agency by utilizing the International Health and Trust + Positive program which acts as a censor and blocks hoax distribution sites.
In each journalistic product a QR code has been applied. This will facilitate the investigation of the article makers that contain hoax news.
In addition to law and social media, education has also become one of the platforms to fight and prevent the spread of hoaxes by increasing reading interest. based on the study of "Most Littered Nation In the World" conducted by Central Connecticut State University, Indonesia was ranked 60 out of 61 countries about reading interest (Skip, 2016). Therefore, education must increase interest in reading to add insight to the younger generation so that it is not easy to believe the news without being accompanied by truth.

4.        The role of the media and society :
To fight and prevent the spread of hoaxes, Facebook makes a feature that will put a dispute mark on each article link that contains news about hoaxes. This will make it easier for the public to report articles that are not accompanied by the truth.
Besides Facebook, Line also tries to fight hoaxes through “Line New”.
In addition to the social media platform, the community also began to initiate the Turn Back Hoax program, where hoax information will be identified and published about its truth through various media, including the Facebook group and through the Turn Back Hoax website itself.

Outline of My Essay   :

Topic               : Hoax
TS                    : Misuse of fake news/hoax on social media
Title                 : United eradicate hoaxes!!!
Introductory Paragraph           : Hoaxes are fake news that is intentionally made by people who also know that the news is fakes.

Conclusion      : The government, society and social media are agents who play an important role in fighting and preventing the spread of hoax news.

My Essay        :

United eradicate hoaxes!!!

Hoaxes are fake news that is intentionally made by people who also know that the news is fakes. Fake news is written and published usually with the aim of misleading the minds of others.  hoaxes can also damage the good name of others, damage peace but provide financial or political benefits to hoax spreaders.  hoaxes often use sensational, dishonest, or directly fabricated news to increase the number of readers.  Hoax has no positive side.  Therefore, to eradicate hoaxes, the government must be firm against the spread of hoaxes.
Some steps made in some social media also function to fight and prevent the spread of hoax news. In conclusion, the government, society and social media are agents who play an important role in fighting and preventing the spread of hoax news. Communities need to be equipped with knowledge of the internet Healthy with media literacy so they can recognize the characteristics of hoax news, and news recipients can access, analyze, evaluate, in taking the meaning of news.
